Chardonnay - Sailor Seeks Horse 2022 Chardonnay

Sailor Seeks Horse is a small vineyard in Tasmania's Huon Valley. Winemakers and viticulturists Gilli & Paul Lipscombe set out to rehabilitate an old vineyard in 2010, planting new clones, with spectacular results for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Whole bunch pressed, wild ferment, 20% new oak, on lees for 12 months in barrel, then 3 months in tank before bottling. No fining.

Michele's notes: Fragrant florals with muscadel, nectarine and flint. Richer notes too of nougat and cashew nuts. There's age-worthy acidity but it is tempered by a soft, textural finish - creaminess but with interesting salinity. Oak and fruit are fully integrated. This will be outstanding with a few years bottle age.
