Rare Pinot Noirs from the 43rd South parallel. The D'Entrecasteaux Channel is the picturesque waterway between Bruny Island and the Tasmanian mainland, extending around to the estuary of the Huon River, south of Hobart. The Huon Valley comprises the locales of Ranelagh, Glaziers Bay, Cygnet and Cradoc. Dark fruits, luscious textures, fine structures.
Mixed SIX contains one each of the following wines -
2023 Chatto Franklinii Pinot Noir - Huon Valley fruit. Alluring aromas of dark cherry, chocolate and fennel. Intense fruit on the palate is matched by lively but balanced acidity. Vivacious and energetic.
2021 Elsewhere Pinot Noir - A pioneer vineyard in the region, having been established in the 1980s at Lower Wattle Grove. Aromatic style with cranberry & orange peel; sweet, juicy red berry fruits finishing clean in the mouth.
2023 Home Hill Landslide Pinot Noir - Glittering and deep ruby/magenta. Impressively complex and 'pinot-esque' nose of Damson plum, dark cherry, meat, liquorice strap, chocolate/mocha. Ultra jubey and juicy in the mouth with rich, sweet fruit tempered by just the right amount of acid.
2021 Resolution Pinot Noir - Uber boutique family-owned property at Middleton. Vivid ruby red, aromatic with bold red cherry, blueberry, wet stone and wafts of fennel seed and cardamom.
2022 Deep Valley Pinot Noir - Steve and Marco Lubiana collaboration from the former 'Panorama' vineyard at Cradoc. Deep, rich colour. Brooding and very interesting nose - earthy/meaty/leather over satsuma plum, briary fruits and dark red roses. Ripe, dark fruits are dominant on the palate; not cloying but juicy and fresh.
2022 Sailor Seeks Horse Pinot Noir - Paul & Gilli Lipscombe's flowing Pinot Noir is an iconic Tasmanian Pinot. Beautiful perfume, medium-weight, precise Pinot with excellent texture.
