Ricky Evans is best known for his Two Tonne range of regional Pinots, named after the two tonnes of fruit that he sourced for the first vintage in 2013. In this vintage release, three regional Pinots are available - TMV (Tamar), STH (Southern Tas), EST (East Coast) - each a delightful reflection of the varying locales.
2023 Two Tonne Tasmania TMV Pinot Noir: Fruit is sourced from different sites in the Tamar Valley area including Relbia. Michele's notes: Vivacious bouquet - briar fruits, with red cherry, chocolate and spice. Tasty and juicy, with plenty of sweet fruit flavours complemented by a fine, slightly chalky and savoury finish.
2023 Two Tonne Tasmania STH Pinot Noir: A full-bodied Pinot Noir, reflecting the 2/3rds Derwent Valley and 1/3rd Coal River origin of the fruit. Michele's notes: Deep colour, satsuma plum meaty notes and bitter cocoa. Nervy, vibrant and chewy tannins in the mouth. Persistent flavours.
2023 Two Tonne Tasmania EST Pinot Noir: From a small vineyard at Cranbrook. Michele's notes: Appealing red cherry and young-berry fruit aromas with flinty/graphite notes and woody herbs. Sleek and flowing in the mouth with fine, dry tannins to finish.
