Decades 2023 Pinot Noir

Steve Flamsteed (Giant Steps) and Brad Rogers (Stone & Wood Brewing Co) have been friends since their Roseworthy days. Their new venture is a vineyard in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley.

The Decades vineyard began life as ‘Touchwood’, planted by the Sextons in 1990 to pinot noir and chardonnay on a north-facing hill on the ‘Woodlands’ property at Tea Tree. The famed black clay soils of the Coal River Valley have a calcareous base here. Rogers and Flamsteed have planted an additional 8ha to the 3 existent hectares when they purchased in 2022. Most of this extra is pinot noir.

Michele’s notes: Michele's notes: Beguiling nose of pure, fragrant fruit. Dark cherry and roses with hint of baked quince, and more savoury beets and porcini.  It evolves with breathing.
Weightless in the mouth, suspended… then the poised fruit, extraordinarily fine tannins and understated acid make their statement. Ethereal, but with old vine depth and richness, and incredible persistence.
